Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain Veneers

A lasting, attractive solution to cover up imperfections, chips or staining.

What are veneers?

Dental veneers are thin covers that stick to the teeth with an adhesive.  A quality veneer is able to hide things like gaps between teeth, chipped or stained teeth, or oddly shaped teeth. Veneers are an easy option for those looking for a more ideal smile.  Made of porcelain, our veneers are durable and have a beautiful, natural look. They are also not stained easily from food or beverages.

What is the procedure to getting a veneer?

The first step in applying veneers is allowing room for the veneer to fit on your teeth without being noticed. Dr. Pitner will remove a small layer of enamel from the front and sides of your teeth to allow for the veneers to be placed and still look natural.

The second step is taking a mold of your teeth.  The mold is the information necessary for the dental lab to custom make your veneers to exactly fit your teeth.  You may receive temporary veneers to wear until your personal veneers are created.  When they arrive, Dr. Pitner will test fit them on your teeth for a perfect fit,  then clean your teeth, and lastly bond the veneers to your teeth.

Aftercare

There is no recovery process necessary.  Moving forward, you will want to be careful to avoid chewing hard foods near the veneer such as ice or hard candy (or pencils if you chew on those).  While veneers are strong, the can crack, so using caution is best.
