Dental Exams & Cleanings

Dental Exams & Cleanings

Routine professional cleanings and exams are essential to good oral health.

Why should I have my teeth examined?

At Pitner Family Dentistry, we recommend you have your teeth examined to look for any areas of concern such as cavities or gum disease. During the exam, Dr. Pitner will discuss the type of food you eat, your oral hygiene habits, and the need for treatment.  She will take the time to make sure you are well-informed and the importance of your dental health. If you smoke or use tobacco, Dr. Pitner can discuss the effects these habits have on your oral health.

How important is a dental exam?

Much like a routine visit to the doctor for a wellness check, having regular dental exams helps to maintain your overall health. Dr. Pitner will look for evidence of cavities, bone or gum disease, and any other abnormalities and make treatment recommendations based on the findings. Additionally she can recommend you visit your primary care physician if there are any other overall signs of health concerns.

How often should I get a dental exam and cleaning?

The general recommendation for most patients: every 6 months.
